Understanding GoDaddy Auctions Listing Options

GoDaddy Auctions® gives you listing options for selling your domain names. You can use a free, basic listing, or you can add optional features to increase your domain name's exposure.

You can sell domain names registered with any registrar, regardless of whether they include website content or are parked. However, we recommend transferring your site to us. Transfers include one-year extensions to your registration period. If you have a live website for your domain name, you can add the value of the website content to the listing, which means the buyer can use the website after acquiring the domain name.

Note: You cannot list domain names expiring within the next 90 days, inactive domain names, or internationalized domain names. For a list of supported domain name extensions, see Which domains can I sell on the auction site?

You can list domain names for either 7 or 90 days, depending on the listing type you select:

  • Offer/Counter Offer — Sells when you accept a buyer's offer or counter offer within the binding period. Or, if you provide a counter offer to the initial offer you receive, the domain name sells when the buyer accepts your offer within the binding period. For more information, see Selling domains with Offer/Counter Offer or Buy Now Listings.

Note: To list your domain name for more than $50,000, you must use a Offer/Counter Offer listing type.

  • Offer/Counter Offer with Buy Now — Sells when you accept a buyer's offer or counter offer within the binding period. Or, if you provide a counter offer to the initial offer you receive, the domain name sells when the buyer accepts your offer within the binding period. At any time, a buyer can accept the Buy Now price instead of negotiating. For more information, see Selling domains with Offer/Counter Offer or Buy Now Listings.
  • Buy Now Only — Sells when a buyer accepts the Buy Now price. For more information, see Selling domains with Offer/Counter Offer or Buy Now Listings.
  • 7-Day Public Auction — Buyers bid on the domain name, which sells to the highest bidder when the auction ends. However, if you set a reserve price, it sells only if the highest bidder meets the reserve price. For more information, see Selling domains in a 7-Day Public Auction.

Note: If you start your domain name as an Offer/Counter Offer listing, you can convert the listing to a 7-Day Public Auction after you receive an offer by using that offer as the opening bid for the auction. For more information, see Auctions FAQ

When you list a domain name for sale, we don't charge you for a free, basic listing. However, when you check out through the shopping cart, you enter crucial information that lets us process your domain name sale. We do not require a credit card number unless you purchase additional features or services.

Once your domain name sells, we keep a small percentage of the selling price. You must also pay a small, annual membership fee to join GoDaddy Auctions. For more information, see GoDaddy Auctions Pricing.

Note: There is no penalty for removing a domain name auction listing with no bids and relisting it, or editing the listing at any time.
