Social media enables you and your customers to have conversations and interact, instead of one-way communication.

Goals for this section:

  • Connect to social media in your Dashboard.
  • Create a post.
  • Display social media buttons on your site.
  • Pull in reviews onto your site.

Connect to social media in your Dashboard

By connecting to your social media accounts in your Dashboard, you manage everything from one central location. Then we’ll go to your website and add a social media section so your customers can interact with you.

You only need to spend time being active on the one or two social media accounts that are important for your audience. But it’s nice to have the other accounts claimed so someone else doesn’t use your business name.

We've got some tips on choosing which social media platforms you need in Lesson 18 from the Marketing Basics with GoDaddy How-To course.

From your Dashboard, select Marketing and then select any of the social media platforms you want to connect: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Once you select each of them, you can connect with an account you already have or create a new account.

One important note about Facebook and Instagram: You must have a Facebook business account, an Instagram professional (business or creator) account, and your Facebook and Instagram accounts must be linked.

Create a post

Most importantly, create consistent content. It doesn’t have to be daily. Even once a month or every other week works.

When you’re ready, open your site from your My Products page.

From your Dashboard, go to Marketing and then Facebook, Twitter or Google My Business. Select Create Post.

Once you compose your message and add images or links, you’re able to post to Facebook, Twitter, or Google My Business all at the same time. You’ll still need to create Instagram posts from your phone.

Display social media buttons on your site

Ready to start displaying social media buttons on your site?

From your Dashboard, select Edit Site to open your website editor.

Go to where you want to place your social media buttons and add a section. Look for the Social section, then select Add. Edit your title, then copy and paste the URLs of each of your social media sites into the correct place.

To display images from your Instagram account, add another section and look for the Social Feed section. Choose a layout, select Add and customize the title. You're only allowed one Instagram feed in your site. If you don't see it in the section list, then it's somewhere else on your site.

Remember to publish your site so your changes are visible to everyone else.

Pull in reviews

Reviews are so powerful. How often do you ask friends if they know of any good products, or ask for a service recommendation in a Facebook group? Lots of times. Reviews provide social proof that your products or services are awesome. We’ve even got some tips on how to ask your clients for testimonials or reviews.

There are two ways to add reviews to your site:

  • Manually add a review that someone has sent you via email, text, or somewhere else.
  • Automatically incorporate reviews from Facebook, Google My Business, Yelp and Yotpo (a tool to help manage product reviews).

From your website editor, go to where you want to display your reviews and add a section.

Look for and add a Reviews section. You can add more than one Reviews section in more than one place.

Edit the title and background image if you’d like.

Remember to publish your site so your changes are visible to everyone else.

Your site is published and now you’ve connected all the parts of your online presence together in one place. The only thing left is to set up the ability to accept payment online.
